Aftermath of Washing Machine Failure

With our dryer out of commission due to the 8 fans and 2 dehumidifiers running downstairs, our sun soaked deck was put to good use.

As were my Tetris skills (life skill, not merely a game!!).

Mess.

Clean, organized, (wet) craft room.

Huge, gigantic mess!

At least we get new carpet.  Yay. :)

Date Night!

Wouldn't it figure?  The one night I was going to go to bed early, and the bottom floor flooded.  That's what you get for doing laundry. :)

As it happens, I forgot to plan date night for the evening.  Turns out that puddle jumping in your own foyer/guest room/hallway/craft room/laundry room is a decent last minute date.  There is something uniquely bonding about two people pulling together for the common good and goal.  It may also end up being the most expensive one we've had in a while.  We'll see!  

First instinct as my toes hit the puddles?  "I should totally wake Lizzy up!"  If she ever knew what she missed, she would be so upset.  There was one point where I could step in and the top of my foot was covered!  All from an hour and 15 minutes of flooding from a washing machine.

How We Spent Our 6th Wedding Anniversary

It started with Lee taking off work!  He never does this (ok, he did take off 3 or 4 days for Lizzy's birth, and 1 for Nye).


Next we sat down for eats and found new friends!  I was about to steam some broccoli when I noticed Cabbage Looper worms.  Lizzy refused to let me just throw them away.  So they became our lunchtime pals!  

Cool girls eat with worms crawling up their arms.  Don't ask why; it's just done.  

Next we ventured outside to get our fill of honeysuckle and blackberries.

A real friend joined us for the hunt.  Unfortunately the berries were mostly green and red.

Nye didn't let that stop him.  He was SO excited that he could help himself to as much food as he could find.    Green, black, red, leaf.  It was all the same to him.

Then Nye took Lizzy for a drive around the block.

We finished by celebrating with cremehorns.  They taste like childhood to me.  Nye ate them the same way I used to-filling first.  

Where was Lee during all this celebrating?

Sweet No's...

This little guy's been a sickie for the past week or so.  I suppose he didn't feel like eating a lot, but had two things in mind for sure.  Lollipops (pop-pop -->the items on the freezer he's pointing to) and yogurt.  He knows  his mind!  I couldn't help but film such sweet "no"s.

On a side note: The past three of four posts have been about yogurt.  Apparently it's a big deal here.  We need all the healthy bacteria we can get our stomachs on.  :)

Mail Delivery!

Lizzy hand delievered all these letters (about 35) to residents at a nursing and rehabiliation home in our area.  We spent about 40 minutes giving the perfect card to each resident, occasionally singing or dancing for them.  It is THE perfect service for her!  She adores making cards and everyone enjoyed meeting her and getting a surprise card.  She's got a good heart!

Yogurt Spill

Think quick:  You drop a full quart of yogurt and it bursts open, spilling all over the floor.  What's your first reaction?



Don't let the picture fool you-the kids' first reaction was not to grab a spoon and dive in.

Lizzy's initial reaction was to jump off the chair, slide face first into the yogurt, and start licking!

So I stepped in and taught them some manners.  When eating liquids off the floor, please use a spoon.

 

(note for my moms: I had just swept, mopped, and steam sterilized the floor before we went grocery shopping.)
