Newest Game in Our House

What do you get when you cross a sick-of-sitting-on-the-potty little boy with a daddy who doesn't want to clean up any more poop?

Peek-a-Pooh

While not as gross as it sounds, it's still hilarious to everyone in the house.  You (you being the potty training kiddo) sit on the potty (hidden behind a wall) and say, "Two, two, one, Peek-a-Pooh!" Then you stick your head around the corner as your dad and sister erupt in laughter.

The game is a huge success and the little boy sits (mostly).

New Trampoline

Latest toy in the household....the beloved trampoline.
Lizzy loves it, Nye likes it.
The Olympics has inspired lots of jumps OFF of it.  Hopefully she continues to stick all of the jumps.

What a Racket

Best thing about the yogurt maker in the mail?  The bubble wrap road.

The Voice of Experience

While feasting on a breakfast of roasted beets shaped with cookie cutters and gruyere cheese, Lizzy stopped halfway through and said, "I'm not going to eat all of these Mom or I'll have to poop a lot later."

She's been there, done that.  :)

Water Fountain Fun

Usually Nye is very trepidacious about going near unpredictable water.  Lizzy jumps right in screaming, but Nye took about 45 minutes to approach.  When he finally did, he got splattered, but enjoyed it.  Yay!

Makes me proud

Nye climbed on the island to get at the dinner preparations.  He didn't grab the shredded cheese, lettuce, or black beans.  Oh no, he went right for the green onions and ate the whole containerful.  I'm proud and disturbed.  What kids goes for green onions (and goes back for more) over cheese?  I love it.

No House is Complete Without...

Getting married to the man I did meant one thing was certain-there would be a basketball hoop in my decorating scheme...always.  Our son finds this acceptable only because there's one at his level too.

Classic Driving

We moved the dining table out to the porch for the summer/fall.  Lizzy made good use of the chairs that were left inside.

Lizzy: "Climb in Nye and buckle your carseat.  We're going to chuck-e-cheese!"

Nye obliged and thought it was great fun! :)

Dancing Dixie

We went to an outdoor bluegrass concert at a park.  It was lovely.  The kids enjoyed the last 30 minutes and there was free ice cream afterwards.  Lizzy got bit by the dancing bug (see video), and even after the music stopped, she didn't.  Below is a series of photos taken within seconds of each other.  A movin' and groovin' little girl to be sure!

Gone Fishing

We don't have a fishing license, but that hasn't stopped us from a good time.   Thankfully the kids don't really care that we're "fishing" using a circle of pony beads instead of hooks.

It's sort of a bummer too-when Nye cast the pony beads into a hole, something jumped on top of it twice.  We definitely would have caught a fish that day!

Still, there's something almost relaxing about just smacking the water with your pole and whining about your line "yarning up."  Maybe one day it will actually be relaxing to take them to the creek.  Baby steps, lots and lots of baby steps.
