Just like Chicken...

Lee played kickball with the kids yesterday.  Lizzy fell over and scraped her scap off.  It started to bleed profusley.  Sweet Nye hovered nearby with a very forlorn look on his face.  He kept sticking his head in sidewise, like a bird eyeing up the situation.  He was so worried about her.

This morning he pointed out her boo-boo.
Lizzy looked at it and commented, "Yeah, it's just like chicken."
What?
"It has black on it."

(Think grilled chicken.)

Cookie!

I placed the food processor, a stick of butter, a bag of flour, and a bag of sugar on the counter.

Nye climbed up, looked around, and excitedly screamed, "Cookie!  Cookie!"

Apparently he's pretty observant of patterns or is just a future baker in the making.

Sticky Situations

What does $17 being wasted sound like?

-Giggles
-Slurps
-More Giggles (and to think I smiled from the other room at these first three sounds)
-A tattletell sister, maple syrup dripping off her braids, shirt, and face, saying how her brother poured syrup on the table.
-The creak of the couch as Dad jumps up to run over.
-The sharp intake of breath at the sight of a previously full maple syrup bottle toppled over--empty, a pool of syrup overflowing the plate, and a sweet, thick lake reaching halfway across the table.
-Wails of sadness at being caught.
-Rushing of bath water being poured on fulled clothed kids.

Sound about right?  Below: Full bottle of maple syrup--pre disaster.

Often Heard in Our House

Lizzy's new favorite song.  So beloved, that she jumped and her face lit up when a speaker at our church used the phrase "precious in his sight."  (Amazingly enough to me, it was 40 minutes into a sermon and she was playing with a friend, yet she still was listening enough to hear that small section of scripture and recognize it!)

Can't decide which is better...
